SILV

(Stagecraft Institute of Las Vegas)

An annual summer Intensive program. I originally attended as a student, but have returned as Head-Electrician of the Movers, Media, and Rock & Roll class, to supervise and lead the load-in and load-outs of their lighting rig. Working with various configurations, we lead a program that teaches students from the ground-up (literally) as they will perform all the tasks generally performed during work-calls in modern entertainment.

Starting with building truss, and ending when the final road-case has been put away and every console is connected to every light. In 2 days, they will have handled thousands of pieces of equipment and set-up one of the most unconventional, but incredibly effective lighting rigs in the world.

Having 10 industry-standard consoles controlling 2 identical rigs, 30 students will spend 3 weeks learning and refining the fundamentals and skills of designing and programming in the entertainment industry.
